Melson (Mel) Tookes is an independent financial services professional with over 20 years of auditing, accounting and business consulting/advisory experience collectively with the federal government and other private accounting and consulting firms.
Mr. Tookes’ specific overall experience includes government contract compliance, cost accounting, internal control assessment, strategic business optimization, audit readiness and related business advisory services for small, midsize and Fortune 500 companies.
Detailed experience includes:
- 20 years of auditing and accounting expertise
- 20 years of tax return preparation and advisory experience
- 10 years of 501(c)(3) non-profit organization setup and consultation
- 20 years of manuscript editing and publishing experience
- Campaign treasurer for Councilman James Torrence (Baltimore City Council, District 7)
Education and training includes:
- Bachelor of Arts in Accounting & Finance & Banking (Lincoln University of Pennsylvania).
- Candidate for a MBA/Master’s of Science in Management from the (University of Maryland Global Campus).
- Accredited Tax Preparer (ATP) with the Accreditation Council for Accountancy and Taxation (ACAT).
Mel is also an avid reader, dog lover (Roxy the pitbull), loves to cook, entertain friends and family, fix and rebuild automobiles, travel, and spend time with family.
